VTG Art Deco Nouveau Arts & Craft Working 2-Light Table Lamp Bronze 1900-1940 #1
VTG Art Deco Nouveau Arts & Craft. 2-Light Table Lamp #1. I pack professionally to facilitate your damage-free receipt. And you will have to file your own claim. Presented for your consideration. A beautiful vintage lamp with a base design that appears to have been inspired by scalloped shells, arranged in an infinite array of expansion. The edges of the raised patterns are just a shade lighter than the surrounding bronze. They give the impression of catching and refracting light to accentuate overlapping scales like those on an eagle’s talon. Beyond its splendid finish and form, I was surprised at the lamp’s wonderful working order. Both sockets perform flawlessly and match the base in color. The re-curved socket arms look straight and feel tightly fit. The column is absent dents and major scratches. The plug and wire look original and in great shape. The base even has a sleeve installed in the wire hole to prevent chafing. I had nothing to do but dust it off and screw in two bulbs. To showcase this lovely lamp, I added a riser, vented vase cap and round finial to mount a desert-themed art glass shade and then a marble-inspired one. This sale will include all the non-glass parts I added. Again, the glass shades are not part of this listing but available separately. This lamp base weighs 3 lbs 8 oz before packing. It measures 20 inches tall, 9 from socket tip to socket tip and 8 across the base. One socket appears to be slightly loose from its shell case and I notice some color loss on both sockets. A magnet attracts the base and the lower ribbed column. A magnet does not attract the top slender column nor the darkened brass riser assembly I added. I acquired this beauty with a handsome hoard of lamps and period parts from established antiquities dealers over the years for my lighting business. This listing is for a genuine artifact of a bygone era that will be a pleasure to welcome into a new home. Please ask all questions. Thank you for viewing my listing. You may wish to see further rare and unusual vintage collections. Exceptional lamps and lighting instruments designed to surprise and delight both casual users and serious connoisseurs of light. I use clean, recycled materials and a heavy-duty box whenever possible. Tall and long items can bend during transport and become damaged when passed from hand to hand. IF POSSIBLE, DO NOT PAY UNTIL I SEND YOU AN INVOICE. “Jellies” – Jellyfish outside the sea, wrapped in aqua, kelp, coral, amber and. “Strata” – Classic Italian marble brought to light in honey, wood, turquoise and bone. “Cobble Stones” – Burnt orange and blue-mint sprinkled over chunky, marbled stones. “Tropical Canopies” – Float above the Amazon – apprehend foliage, fruits and falling water. “Alabaster in the Sun” – Pale, translucent slate with fragments of ivory. “Ambrosia” – A world-view from inside an amber preserve. “Eclipse” – Sunset or sunrise? VTG 6-Light Massive Sea Monsters Baroque Arts & Craft Working Lamp 1900-1940
VTG 6-Light Massive Sea Monsters. Baroque Arts & Craft. 4 smaller shades no longer available. Size does make a difference in the qualitative presence an object exerts on those around it but this monolith of a lamp has plenty of attributes beyond simple heft to draw all eyes from the room. Although each of the four shade holders retain their original screws, threaded sockets have been installed to allow fitterless shades equal usage. The easy access rotary switch enables 3-way lighting, so that the four pendant lights and the top two primary shade lights can operate independently. The top has a generalized shade holder or riser assembly to allow a multitude of different shades to be used. The lamp is covered in intricate decorative details, including 4 sea beasts descending towards the base, floral motifs and more. This centerpiece weighs 8 lbs 8 oz before packing. It measures 39 inches tall, 16 wide and 11 1/2 across the base. I can bring the height down to 34 inches by removing the riser on top. A magnet does not attract. The lamp appears to be made of brass and spelter. I see what might be residue of clear epoxy used to keep the different sections of the base from weight-induced sliding. The shade holders will take standard 2 1/4 inch fitters. All parts appear tight, original and absent noticeable blemish. The four threaded sockets and the top two sockets in sleeves would be newer. The socket threadings have minor wear and chipping but does not reject the use of rings to secure non-fitter shades with 1 3/4 inch holes. The lamp is in excellent working condition. I acquired this beauty with a handsome hoard of lamps and period parts from established antiquities dealers over the years for my lighting business. Male Figure at Seashore Sitting. I pack professionally to facilitate your damage-free receipt. If you pay the. And you will have to file your own claim. Art glass in pictures not part of listing – Available separately – Please inquire. The initial two pictures with the red shade shows a poorly restored left hand. Remaining pictures now show a new restoration by a local artist. I bought this lamp from an antiquities dealer almost 20 years ago and it sat in a box in storage until this summer. Almost any flat or near-flat shade between 1/8 and 3/16 of an inch in thickness will fit into the slots behind the long haired maiden and I chose 3 colorful shades in my studio to showcase her beautifully crafted features. The figure possesses finely chiseled details from her face to hands, torso and even toes. A previous owner attempted to reattach the severed left hand using a steel pin but the resulting repair was unsightly and detracted me from considering further work until a better solution for the unfinished repair became available. I recently consulted an artist who had the tools to do so. The nudist appears to be perched on a stack of rocks over moving water, her right leg astride her left knee while her foot is ankle-deep in the current. The rock cluster is unusually geometric, perhaps hinting at a subtle transition from Nouveau to Deco? She leans down into the waters with her right hand in. While her left spears high in deft counterbalance to naturally circumvent a fall. The tension of her pose, the movement of the waves and the surreal sense of serenity on her face all collude to create a scene of potential peril and innate wonder. Any lighting shade will drive home or diminish these perceptions. This lamp weighs 1 lb 2 oz before packing. I will have to pack with extra care to protect the repaired hand. It measures 9 inches tall, 9 1/2 wide and 5 deep. The socket, wire and plug all appear original consistent with the time period. The metal surface shows a faded finish appropriate for the age. The bottom green felt cover is present but sagging and may benefit from replacement. A magnet does not attract and the metal appears to be spelter. I see no other major flaws nor any markings to indicate a maker. I acquired this compelling figure piece with a handsome hoard of lamps and period parts from established antiquities dealers over the years for my lighting business.
