This is a gorgeous lamp perfect for a buffet when paired with a Turner print/mirror or for taking pride of place on a side table. The copper lamp features a figural, ceramic cockatoo perched atop a branch bedecked with a beautiful flower & foliage. Above the bird sits an integrated, round planter filled with faux ferns. Everything is original to the lamp with the exception of the fresh rewiring, greenery, new felt bottom, and the custom lampshade. The lamp had its original plug but the Bakelite had crumbled, leaving exposed wiring and a socket that didn’t accommodate a standard lightbulb. The custom shade is made from salvaged fiberglass & lacing from a damaged, vintage shade. It is an ideal complement to a wide array of interior styles – traditional, kitschy, Hollywood Regency, tiki, tropical, eclectic, etc. Overall, the lamp is in good vintage condition and displays beautifully; there are a few issues that show its age and use but that do not detract from its function or dramatic impact. There is patination to the metal as well as some scuffing scratching. There are minor nicks and chips to the delicate areas of the ceramic and a professional repair to one of the bird’s wingtips. There is a small dent on the bottom edge of the planter that is obscured by the cockatoo’s crest and a crack in the decorative copper stem that does not affect the integrity of the lamp and faces toward the rear. The lamp measures approximately 10″Wx9.5″Dx26H (including the finial). The shade measures approximately 8.75″Hx8.75″Wx8.75D. The cord is approximately 78 in length. I’m including a freestanding cockatoo figurine that is contemporary with the lamp; it is in excellent vintage condition with no issues of note; it measures approximately 8.25H.
