This is a very stylized and showy lamp. It almost reminds you an engine shaft. The chrome discs are graduated and have two pieces of clear acrylic or Lucite in between to add to the attractiveness. The chrome pieces have some pitting and wear to them, as would be expected from the age of the piece. The cord is in good condition, and the socket to turn the lamp on off works great. All that is missing is a very wonderful lamp shade to go with it. The lamp stands 12 inches from the table to the bottom of the light socket where you put the lightbulb in. There is pitting and wear to the chrome pieces as I mentioned and the Lucite pieces have a little bit of scuffing and surface wear, but it only adds to the authenticity of the piece. This is a very showy lamp and it is one that makes a statement. I hope you can find a fabulous shade that will go with it. Scroll through all of the photos so you can see the details more clearly. Vintage Machine Age Deco chrome table or desk lamp. Great modernist design could be Gilbert Rohde or Donald Deskey. Heavy one piece base. Measures almost 18 3/8″ high with 5″ diameter base. Chrome has some normal wear.
Beautiful original machine-age art deco table lamps in incredibly well-preserved condition. Very much in the style of Edward Kent/Railley Corporation, but no conclusive attribution can be made. Shades are made of polished spun aluminum, with black painted accenting. The shades have an inner structure of either cast iron or steel to which they are affixed with the original slot head screws. The base structure is heavy cast iron with spun aluminum exterior. The stem of the lamp appears to be brass painted black (I see brass color peeking out from behind the black in some very small areas) with spun aluminum trim. Lamps have been rewired with modern but period-correct twisted cloth wiring and what appears to be new sockets. The cosmetics of the lamps themselves are original and unrestored. Note: The shades don’t have any hardware that they affix to on the lamps themselves–they were perched directly atop the bulbs when the lamps were acquired. Overall a stunning set of art deco period lighting that is in immaculate condition for being 80-90 years old.
Nice MCM mesh chrome Laurel style Clover Lamp. As shown there are some very minor, small spots of surface rust on the base. I WILL include the three fat bottom light bulbs with the lamp. Working all the way. I would consider updating with a rewire, new cord. Visually the cord looks & behaves fine. Due to age alone, I would plan to update the chord and plug when the opportunity arises… Just to be safe.
