Antique Porcelain Greek Roman Soldier Lamps Art Deco Neoclassical Lady Pair VTG

Offering this elegant pair of vintage porcelain and brass lamps in the Neoclassical style. Each depicts a different ancient Greek or Roman soldier. Looking closely at the faces and hair, I believe both figures are meant to be women, as was popular during the Art Deco era. One has Trojan style helmet with a short tunic and Medusa face on their shield. The other has a sphinx on their helmet and a long toga. Both are holding brass spears. One is missing the tip of a single finger where it wraps around the spear, but the loss is discrete and should be a simple fix. Both have a Neoclassical leaf design around the brass base. There is minor wear to the gold paint detailing at the extremities and normal age-related patina to the metal. One appears to have had its sockets replaced, and the cords are not the same, plus neither has a finial. That said, as you can see these are overall in nice condition for their age and display very dramatically. Each measures about 32″ tall including the post for the shade or 19″ tall to the top of each figure and 7 wide across the bottom of the base. Vintage Blue on White Porcelain Chinese Lamp on Plinth Base. As pictures show this wonderful piece is in “Fantastic Working condition” This shows all over very mild signs of age/display. There is absolutely no damage at all, this has all original fittings with an extendable brass neck for reading &/or light adjustment. All in all a wonderful piece. This is a wonderful signed with hallmark and Germany Art Deco porcelain lady Pierrot harlequin figural boudoir lamp from old estate. It is 12 1/2″ from top to bottom and the figurine not counting base is 8 3/4″ by 6. The metal collar on the column is attached but a bit wiggly. You may wish to reinforce it with calk. It is ok how it is. I see no chips, cracks or repairs to note. THAT WAS A FORMER DANCE HALL AND GAME CLUB IN DOWNTOWN HONOLULU. ONCE I SAW THEM I. APPEARANCE AND STARTED TO GATHER AS MUCH INFO ON THEM AS I POSSIBLY. ON THE SPOT USING. BEFORE EVEN MAKING AN OFFER I ALREADY KNEW THAT THEY. CURATOR OF THE BUILDING FOR HIS PERMISSION TO DETACH ONE OF THEM. TO LOOK FOR A POSSIBLE. MARK, BUT GOT A DEFINITE “NO” FROM HIM AND WAS ASKED TO COME UP WITH. SO, AFTER THE FIERCE. NEGOTIATION I WAS THE OWNER OF A VERY STRANGE LOOKING AND. WERE SO DIRTY THAT I HAD TO WRAP. THEM UP IN A PAIR OF BEACH TOWELS THAT WERE LATER. BY THE HOTEL PERSONNEL WHERE I. IT TOOK ME A WHOLE DAY TO CLEAN THE. AND OF COURSE, DURING THIS. PROCEDURE I DID FIND THE MANUFACTURERS. MARKS AND CAN STATE NOW THAT. PORCELAIN MONKEY FIGURINES WERE. IN FACT MADE IN CHINA DURING THE LATE 20’S AND EARLY 30’S TOGETHER. WITH THE SOFT WOOD BASES. SHADES AND ALL METAL HARDWARE AND. WERE DONE IN THE. PRE WAR, WHICH WAS THE COMMON PRACTICE BACK IN. THE LAMPS ARE IN A GREAT CONDITION. WITH NO CHIPS CRACKS OR REPAIRS TO PORCELAIN AND GLASS, ONLY SOME NORMAL. WARE TO METAL, PAINT AND SOME MINOR. PITTING DURING THE MAKING PROCESS. OVERALL I WOULD RATE THEM AS 10 FOR. ORIGINAL ANTIQUE CONDITION ON A 10. I ONLY REWIRED THEM WITH PERIOD ELECTRIC CORD AND WAS ABLE TO LEAVE THE OLD SOCKETS, PLUGS AND. FITTINGS, SO THEY WORK. GREAT AND LOOK ALMOST THE. THEY WERE INSTALLED IN A VERY POSH AND STYLISH. HAWAIIAN NIGHT CLUB IN A CARD GAME. ROOM WHICH, AS I FOUND. OUT LATER WAS CALLED ” THE ZOO”. THE MEASUREMENTS ARE: 29″ AND 28.5″ TALL TO THE TOP OF THE FINIALS, 8.5″ AND 9″ AT THE WIDEST.
