Rare Vintage Art Deco Chrome Machine Age Desk Boudoir Lamp Light. Works

This listing is for a rare vintage Art Deco Machine Age adjustable chrome boudoir or desk lamp. The lamp does work. It measures 11 3/4″ tall with a 3 1/4″ x 5 5/8 base. The chrome could be over brass… However, a magnet will not stick to it. The columns seem to be Bakelite… The shade measures 4 1/2″ long and 3 3/8″ across. There are scuffs, scratches and some of the shiny finish is off from over the years. Check the older cord… There is a scuff spot on one of the columns. The light swings between the columns. I can get it to stay straight up, but in between it wants to swing. The on/off button pushes fine. I have never run across a light like this. This is a nice, unusual lamp from a nice estate. The original chrome is in good overall condition, there is wear, chrome flaking and rust to the base. The shaft chrome is in good condition. The shade has minor scuffs and discoloration. LARGE VTG 1933 Worlds Fair Ringed Saturn Lamp Art Deco Machine Age RESTORED

This extraordinary large Saturn lamp dates to the mid 1930’s and was associated with the 1933/34 “Century of Progress” World’s Fair in Chicago. Here the fair’s Saturn motif is complimented by strong machine age design of contrasting chrome and black finish. It is unknown whether this lamp was an “official” World’s Fair product, however it is certainly of that period and genre. This lamp has been restored and refurbished and is in excellent working order. The original chrome finish is intact and in displays well. The black surfaces on the base have been restored with satin black enamel. The black ring on the Saturn globe has been re-touched. The original push switch socket has been retained and interior bulb contacts have been cleaned and polished. All wiring has been refurbished with new period reproduction rayon covered twist style cord and appointed with new vintage style plug. This lamp utilizes a standard medium Edison base light bulb. Light bulb is not included. IMPORTANT: ABOUT THE SHADE. Approximate dimensions are as follows. Height to top of socket: 14-1/2. Saturn globe diameter: 5-1/2. NOTE: While the lamp displays well overall, upon close inspection one can observe the superficial wear and abrasions on chrome surfaces, particularly on the globe. VTG Skyscraper Art Deco Machine Age Black & Chrome Lamp c. 1935 RESTORED

Dating to the mid 1930’s, the stepped base and neck of this handsomely designed metal lamp are reflective of the “skyscraper “motif, an integral component of American modernist design of that period. This design is also true to the minimalist ethos of the machine age, being comprised solely of geometric forms. It has been restored and refurbished and is ready for contemporary use. External metal components have been professionally finished in contrasting triple plate chrome and gloss black powder coat finishes. The original socket interior has been refurbished with new like kind. The vintage bakelite rotary switch is in excellent condition. Wiring has been refurbished with new reproduction vintage style fabric covered cord and appointed with a new vintage style plug. This lamp utilizes a standard US medium base light bulb. The size of the harp requires a small profile bulb such as an A15, G16.5 or a torpedo candle bulb. An LED bulb is recommended to minimize heat transfer to the metal shade. This is a cool little desk lamp that needs a little tlc. The wiring is frazzled and worn and needs replacement. The chrome is actually pretty good with minor loss here and there.
