Vintage Hand Carved Wood Folk Art figural ornery and ferocious BEAR lamp. Measures 22″ to top of harp, the carved wood measures 12 1/2″ tall. Has a three-way bulb socket. No shade, no bulb.
This exceptional decorative lamp dates to the early 1930’s. Polar bears were first introduced to the world of art deco by sculptor François Pompon at the 1925 Exposition for Decorative Arts. Here they were used on bookends and other decorative objects, and, on rare occasion, in decorative lighting.
