Rare Vintage Art Deco Chrome Machine Age Desk Boudoir Lamp Light. Works

This listing is for a rare vintage Art Deco Machine Age adjustable chrome boudoir or desk lamp. The lamp does work. It measures 11 3/4″ tall with a 3 1/4″ x 5 5/8 base. The chrome could be over brass… However, a magnet will not stick to it. The columns seem to be Bakelite… The shade measures 4 1/2″ long and 3 3/8″ across. There are scuffs, scratches and some of the shiny finish is off from over the years. Check the older cord… There is a scuff spot on one of the columns. The light swings between the columns. I can get it to stay straight up, but in between it wants to swing. The on/off button pushes fine. I have never run across a light like this. This is a nice, unusual lamp from a nice estate. The lamp consists of a mushroom shaped lamp shade made of chrome metal with a thick clear round glass plaque on top. The stem is placed on a round heavy chrome metal base. The lamp has black felt underneath. It has a black cord with intermedia switch. Takes one E27 (big European size) light bulb with max. 220 V 50 Hz. Very good vintage condition with just minor signs caused to use and age. Height total: 480 mm / ca. Iameter lampshade: 340 mm / ca. Diameter base: 155 mm / ca. VTG Skyscraper Art Deco Machine Age Black & Chrome Lamp c. 1935 RESTORED

Dating to the mid 1930’s, the stepped base and neck of this handsomely designed metal lamp are reflective of the “skyscraper “motif, an integral component of American modernist design of that period. This design is also true to the minimalist ethos of the machine age, being comprised solely of geometric forms. It has been restored and refurbished and is ready for contemporary use. External metal components have been professionally finished in contrasting triple plate chrome and gloss black powder coat finishes. The original socket interior has been refurbished with new like kind. The vintage bakelite rotary switch is in excellent condition. Wiring has been refurbished with new reproduction vintage style fabric covered cord and appointed with a new vintage style plug. This lamp utilizes a standard US medium base light bulb. The size of the harp requires a small profile bulb such as an A15, G16.5 or a torpedo candle bulb. An LED bulb is recommended to minimize heat transfer to the metal shade.
