VTG Art Deco Arts & Craft Mission. Mastercraft in Copper Work. I pack professionally to facilitate your damage-free receipt. If you pay the. And you will have to file your own claim. Presented for Your Consideration. A lesson in mastercraft is unmistakable in this huge, beautifully hand-formed table lamp. The entire surface of the base and column has been meticulously worked to produce a hammered finish, reflecting and refracting light like a gemstone. As copper resists tarnish, the sparkles are functionally for – ever. The robust column is further enhanced with large indentations towards the top, giving the lamp a playful personality with a strong period presence. Glass blowing masters in. Tiffany, Quezal, Steuben and other renowned. Often used similar large indents to accentuate their vases and bowls. The base is tiered and supplements the scale of the work. The socket has been installed with a tight fit as evidenced by its support of the large glass globe shade in pictures. The base underside reveals a wire management system and attention to detail usually absent in mass produced vintage lighting instruments. Whoever made this, it was carefully designed and professionally executed with great love and effort. The base has a slight wobble which should be easy to straighten with some gentle rubber mallet work or filing. Height (base to socket top) – 17 1/2 inches. Weight – 4 lb 8 oz. Add a heavy duty harp if a heavy shade is intended. Add a felt pad to protect delicate surfaces. I made the pictured art glass shade in my Seattle studio circa 2006. I acquired this lighting piece with a handsome hoard of lamps and period parts from established antiquities dealers over the years for my lighting business. This listing is for a genuine artifact of a bygone era that will be a pleasure to welcome into a new home. The pictures are an important part of the description. All reasonable offers welcome. Thank you for viewing my listing. You may wish to see further rare and unusual vintage collections. Exceptional lamps and lighting instruments designed to surprise and delight both casual users and serious connoisseurs of light. VTG Art Deco Nouveau Arts & Craft. Signed & Labeled, Reads. Moreau (By Auguste Moreau). Nd you will have to file your own claim. Presented for Your Consideration. Perhaps the most raw and robust bare chested massive blacksmith figure lamp seen in ages. This snapshot of a forge worker stands way out compared to others I’ve seen in levels of realism, detail, size, condition and provenance. Our metalsmith is deeply engaged in his work and only pauses his hammer to gauge its progress. His work shirt is cast aside, no doubt soaked with the sweat of his labors and a rough leather apron protects his taut abs, hips and thighs. A large caliper, or more likely tongs, rests near his feet and an anvil with a Moreau signature stands behind. The cuffs of his trousers wedge against the laces of his boots, whose tips are bent from considerable use. The blacksmith’s muscles bulge most naturally from his arms, chest and back. His seeming fair hair that graces his brows and the facial growth below subtle aquiline features frame a handsome and healthy fellow in the prime of his youth. And maybe also the height of his craft. This huge figure lamp is in excellent condition, absent structural issues and with very few minor surface blemishes consistent with age. I see tiny splatters from nearby careless painting, here and there. I believe the metal is spelter, beautifully shaped and aged. The wooden base is a bit loose and I see what may be a hairline just right side of the maker’s label. I’ve replaced the inner socket and wire with functional counterparts while still retaining the original socket husk. The harp was taken from another vintage lamp and can be easily swapped for different shapes or sizes as needed. The lamp features a curved light stem distanced and attached to the figure and base by metal straps and screws. I see this method in very old lamps from Europe. If you’ve waited to invest in a less than modestly endowed masculine light that exudes a profound presence and draws even the most aloof of eyes without effort, your patience may just have prevailed. Just add your dream shade or choose one from my inventory for a devastatingly dramatic or even serene and subtle effect. A dimmer is highly recommended. Height – 33 1/2 inches (27 w/o harp). Weight – 8 lbs 13 oz. Tighten wooden base, address hairline near maker’s label. Presently in excellent working condition. I made the art glass shade in my Seattle studio, Edge of Glass. VTG 6-Light Massive Sea Monsters Baroque Arts & Craft Working Lamp 1900-1940
VTG 6-Light Massive Sea Monsters. Baroque Arts & Craft. 4 smaller shades no longer available. Size does make a difference in the qualitative presence an object exerts on those around it but this monolith of a lamp has plenty of attributes beyond simple heft to draw all eyes from the room. Although each of the four shade holders retain their original screws, threaded sockets have been installed to allow fitterless shades equal usage. The easy access rotary switch enables 3-way lighting, so that the four pendant lights and the top two primary shade lights can operate independently. The top has a generalized shade holder or riser assembly to allow a multitude of different shades to be used. The lamp is covered in intricate decorative details, including 4 sea beasts descending towards the base, floral motifs and more. This centerpiece weighs 8 lbs 8 oz before packing. It measures 39 inches tall, 16 wide and 11 1/2 across the base. I can bring the height down to 34 inches by removing the riser on top. A magnet does not attract. The lamp appears to be made of brass and spelter. I see what might be residue of clear epoxy used to keep the different sections of the base from weight-induced sliding. The shade holders will take standard 2 1/4 inch fitters. All parts appear tight, original and absent noticeable blemish. The four threaded sockets and the top two sockets in sleeves would be newer. The socket threadings have minor wear and chipping but does not reject the use of rings to secure non-fitter shades with 1 3/4 inch holes. The lamp is in excellent working condition. I acquired this beauty with a handsome hoard of lamps and period parts from established antiquities dealers over the years for my lighting business.
