VINTAGE ART DECO GEOMETRIC SHAPE “END OF DAY” GLASS LAMP SHADE. It’s very colorful with a “spatter” or “end of day” glass pattern. “End of Day” art glass was originally made by early glass artists who did not want to waste the different colored bits of glass that were left over at the end of their work day. The colors are molded into the clear glass, not painted on, an imitation of famous Murano glass colors. I’ve seen this geometric shape referred to as “starburst” or “cubist”. These types of shades were typically used on figural lamps from the Art Deco period during the 1920’s and 1930’s. The shade measures about 7″ tall and 7 1/2″ wide. The outside diameter of the fitter ring (flat surface that rests on the shade holder) is 3 1/8 in diameter. Although I’m not completely certain, this shade was very likely made in Czechoslovakia during the 1920’s. Condition of this Art Deco lamp shade is EXCELLENT with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The ground fitter ring has some normal tiny nicks and minor rim roughness that is original to its manufacture. Overall, this collectible shade looks fantastic and displays beautifully.
