This rare vintage Art Deco Egyptian Revival radio lamp is complete and original; These were produced with either an amber or green shade in an Egyptian stepped design to complement the figural base. These lamps were almost certainly produced by the same company which made the “Pharaoh and the Falcon” lamp Like the Pharaoh and Falcon lamp, this one is larger than most figural lamps of the period; It measures about 13″ wide and 9″ tall and weighs 6 pounds unpackaged. It is perfect for a console or buffet. These lamps are increasingly difficult to find in any condition. Many of the metal bases have been broken over the years as have many of the shades. Consequently, you occasionally see one or the other available independently. This lamp is in extraordinary condition given it’s age! There is only light surface wear to the metal and patchy areas of patina on the top of the plinth. There are also typical casting anomalies such as wavy lines and pin holes. The amber shade is also in good condition with no cracks; there is only one minor chip on the bottom of one corner (see photo).
